Officer-involved Shooting in Charleston, Tennessee

On Sunday, October 13th, 2019, at approximately 2:02 AM, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance between a male and female involving a firearm near Laguna Drive.

The female caller reported her husband had a firearm and was threatening to use it on her, and them himself.

When deputies arrived on the scene, the husband had departed. The female caller was transported to a local hospital by EMS where she refused treatment.

Deputies returned to the residence and found the window blinds were closed, leading them to suspect the husband was inside the residence. Deputies entered the residence and determined the husband had locked himself in the bedroom. After several requests from deputies, the husband refused to leave the room. He then reached for his firearm, prompting a deputy to fire a non-fatal shot to the husband’s shoulder.

The husband is currently receiving treatment for the gunshot wound to his shoulder, and will be taken into custody once treatment is complete.

Bradley County Sheriff Steve Lawson reached out to District Attorney General Steve Crump to request an investigation. The TBI is now on the scene conducting that investigation.
