Severe Weather Possible Saturday Evening

SPC Convective Outlook

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center currently has Cleveland in the “marginal” risk area for severe weather on Saturday. Areas to our west, including Chattanooga, are in the “slight” risk – which is a slightly greater risk area. The primary threats will be damaging winds and an isolated tornado or two Saturday afternoon and/or evening.

It is important to say weather-aware on Saturday, and have (preferably multiple) ways to receive any watches or warnings.

We recommend you check your NOAA Weather Radio and verify reception – verify that the alert switch is ON, and the backup batteries are good.

If you are going to be away from your weather radio, we will be posting updates on the Cleveland/Bradley County Scanner Feed Facebook page. If you are away from Internet access and/or cell coverage, listen to Mix 104.1 WCLE. As always, during a weather event you can listen to the various scanner feeds on our site. Amateur radio generally has a weather net going where you will find useful information during these times.

We will post more updates as they become available to us.
