The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has tweaked the convective outlook map a bit to move Bradley and Polk Counties into the “slight” risk area for severe weather. Chattanooga remains in the “slight” risk area, and “enhanced” has moved a bit closer to us.
As of this writing, we are under a TORNADO WATCH until 9PM Eastern time. Also, the National Weather Service has just issued a TORNADO WARNING for Central Jackson County in Alabama. This warning was prompted by a severe thunderstorm with rotation capable of producing a tornado indicated on radar. No actual tornado has been spotted in Jackson County, but residents there should take cover as a precaution.
Again, in our area, we are under a WATCH only at this time. However, as things progress over the next few hours, we may see warnings issued.
